Types of office available:
City offices
Situated invariably in busy thoroughfares with a large customer
flow, these represent a major business. This type of office would
be ideally suited to someone with retail experience and requires
a major capital investment.
Suburban offices
These tend to be smaller, but are still a considerable size and
require experience to run. There is usually scope to expand trade
in the retail side. The investment required will depend upon the
size of the business.
Small and rural offices
The majority of sub post offices are small town and rural offices.
The scope of the offices, and the investment required, vary enormously.
All require great energy and enthusiasm to make maximum returns
possible.
Investment needed
Investment levels
The level of investment that you will have to make will be dependent
upon the size and location of the office you have decided to apply
for. It is difficult to quantify what it will cost to invest in
your own post office because of this dependency, but in most cases
you will need some available funds to go towards the total cost
of the business.
Return on investments
The Post Office remunerates you for the business that you carry
out on its behalf. The more business that you do, the more you are
remunerated, so the reward is proportional to the business. You
do of course keep all of the profits from your private retail side.
